While last week marked the first official day of summer, we have been experiencing the heat for quite a while! This week we have been in the 90’s and temperatures of 100+ are expected for the weekend. Whew! That’s hot!!
So what do we do here in East Tennessee when the heat becomes nearly unbearable? We thank God that we have lakes close by! LOL. Cherokee and Douglas Lakes offer some respite through swimming, boating, and skiing. If you don’t have a boat and prefer a pool, we have several area parks and city recreational areas with swimming facilities. Another option would be Dollywood Splash Country in Pigeon Forge.
Perhaps the sun is just too much and you don’t want to be out doors at all. East Tennessee has numerous indoor attractions to help you beat the heat! Ripley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, or enjoy a piece of history by visiting the Crockett Tavern Museum in Morristown.
East Tennessee is filled with lots of great indoor and outdoor activities. Whether you have a growing family or are enjoying retirement, you are sure to find something! Come for a visit, stay for a lifetime.
